Make the Switch to Organic Coffee

For most adults, sipping a cup of coffee in the morning is an essential part of their routine. Besides being delicious and offering an instant buzz, coffee is actually full of health benefits. It’s packed with antioxidants, essential nutrients, and has been shown to improve energy levels and productivity, protect the liver, and even burn fat. According to Healthline, it may be one of the healthiest beverages on the planet.

Unfortunately, many of these incredible benefits of coffee are lost in processing of conventional brands. Non-organic coffee contains residue from pesticides and other chemicals used during the growing process, which is not considered food safe. Over time, these chemicals are believed to cause a number of issues in the body, ranging from improper gut function, to hormone imbalance, to nervous system abnormality, and more.

What’s the solution? Buy organic beans. Not only will you feel better about something that you’re consuming every single day, but you’ll taste and feel the difference in the quality.

One of our favorite brands is Tug Hill Artisan Roasters. They are a local brand with a passion for delivering a high quality, delicious cup of coffee. They’ve kindly shared their top tips for the best brew, so we’re passing them along to you!

  1. Grind your beans right before brewing, ideally with a burr grinder. Coffee grinders are available at most supermarkets at a relatively low cost. Your coffee with taste stronger and fresher with freshly-ground beans.
  2. Never let your coffee stay on a warmer. If you can’t enjoy it right away, store it in an airtight thermos until you can!
  3. Brew your coffee with water between 195 and 200 degrees.
  4. If you really want to brew coffee like a professional, try using a scale for measuring your coffee and water.

If you’re looking to switch things up, we recommend trying out a new brewing method. We love the result of using a pour over filtration system or French press.
