4 Ways to Boost Your Mood Naturally

We understand that it can be difficult to stay positive during these strange and uncertain times. When we are removed from our regular routines, it feels more tempting than ever to spend day after day snacking and binge-watching the newest Netflix series. While that’s perfectly fine on occasion, too much of it can leave us feeling stressed, anxious, and a little gloomy.

We’ve made a list of all of our favorite mood-boosting products and remedies, and we’re sharing them with you here! We hope that you’re able to stay happy and positive during these scary times.

  1. Get Moving! 

    It’s no secret that exercise makes us feel amazing. Studies have shown that even low intensity workout like a 30 minute walk helps to release the body’s “feel-good” chemicals, or endorphins, which enhance our sense of well-being and happiness. Go for a hike with your family, go for a jog, or try a free HIIT workout on Youtube.

  2. Magnesium.

    Magnesium is known as the “anti-stress” supplement, because it’s great for relaxing the nervous system and assisting with anxiety, fear, irritability, and restlessness. It is available in small amounts in foods like nuts, leafy greens, and some dairy products, but we find it’s easier to take a supplement. The recommended dose is 300-400mg per day. Some of our favorite brands are Natural Vitality, Trace Minerals, and our private label.

  3. Omega 3 Fatty Acids.

    According to a Harvard article, depression appears less common in nations where people eat large amounts of fish. Scientists believe that this is due to the fact that fish contains high levels of omega 3 fatty acids – EPA and DHA. People who have low levels of these two chemicals are said to have an increased risk of depression and other mood disorders. You can get omega 3’s in your diet by eating fish and other seafood, or you can take a high-quality omega supplement, like Nordic Naturals or Carlson.

  4. Herbs.
    People have been using herbal remedies for stress and anxiety for centuries. Some popular ones include:

-Hawthorn
-Lavender
-Lemon Balm
-Ashwagandha
-Chamomile
-Passionflower
